Piling works for the Long Thanh international airport's passenger terminal is completed, one month ahead of schedule

15/09/2022
On September 15th 2022, Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), the investor of Long Thanh International Airport, announced the piling completion for the foundation of passenger terminal, one month ahead of schedule. This achievement was accomplished after just 5 months of construction. ACV is currently directing relevant units to implement quality control measures for the constructed piles. This includes ultrasonic testing for pile uniformity and compression tests meeting quality standards. To ensure thorough quality checks, 100% of the piles will have ultrasonic tubes installed. Any problems detected during inspection will be immediately addressed.

According to ACV, the passenger terminal's foundation of Long Thanh international airport has 1,560 bored piles. Early completion of the piling construction package is crucial as it allows ACV to move swiftly to the next bidding stages. To expedite this process, ACV is working collaboratively with the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Construction to finalize the passenger terminal designing approval. This fast-tracked appraisal process is expected to pave the way for construction of passenger terminal to begin in October 2022.

With the completion of the piling construction for the passenger terminal, the focus will shift to ground leveling and drainage. Excavation and leveling will be prioritized in this stage, starting with the terminal area and the take-off and landing runways, to prepare for the upcoming construction in these sections.
