Groundbreaking ceremony of the Cao Lanh - An Huu expressway construction project - Phase 1, in Dong Thap province

The project of Cao Lanh - An Huu Expressway - phase 1, which has the total length of 27.43 km, passing through Dong Thap province (16 km) and Tien Giang province (11.43 km), having an entire investment cost of more than 5,880 billion VND, officially starting the construction on June 25th 2023. The Cao Lanh - An Huu Expressway belongs to the Hong Ngu - Tra Vinh expressway, which was approved by the Prime Minister in the Decision of 1454 dated September 1st, 2021. The project of Cao Lanh - An Huu expressway is expected to be completed in December of 2025.
The expressway project has a starting point which will be connecting to My An - Cao Lanh expressway in Cao Lanh district (Dong Thap), and an ending point which will be connecting to Trung Luong - My Thuan expressway, in Cai Be district (Tien Giang). This second horizontal expressway of the Mekong Delta region is nearly 25 meters in width, having 4 lanes and speed limit of 100 km/h. However, the first phase of this project will be 17 m in width, 4 lanes, speed limit of 80 km/h, expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
When being completed, this expressway will meet transportation demand on the north bank corridor of Tien River, contributing to reduce the overloading situation which currently existing on National Highway 30. The project also connects the north - south eastern expressway along the vertical axis, including: Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong - My Thuan - Can Tho - Ca Mau. In the west of Mekong Delta region, the north-south expressway connection has been formed, including: Ho Chi Minh - My An - Cao Lanh - Lo Te - Rach Soi.
