Contractor received special permit to exploit sand mines for the construction of the Cao Lanh - An Huu expressway project

On May 16^th, 2024, in Dong Thap, the first two sand mines (namely Tan Thuan Dong and Thuong Lac) were granted a special mechanism to serve the Cao Lanh - An Huu expressway project. The component 1 of this expressway project passes 16 kilometers through Dong Thap province, with a total investment of over 3,600 billion VND. The project is expected to be completed and put into operation by the end of 2025. The total demand for sand for the entire project is 2,300,000 cubic meters. To guarantee a stable sand supply for the 1^st component of Cao Lanh - An Huu expressway project, Dong Thap's authorities granted a special permit to VNCN E&C Construction and Engineering Investment JSC., a member of the joint venture contractor, for the direct exploitation of two sand mines. The Tan Thuan Dong sand mine, spanning 25.31 hectares, is located on the Tien River, encompassing areas within Tan Thuan Dong commune, Cao Lanh city, and My An Hung A and My An Hung B communes, Lap Vo district. This mine boasts an approved sand reserve of 1,754,892 cubic meters, with a permitted extraction limit of 1,200,000 cubic meters. The entire project is slated for completion in 21 months, including a 15-month extraction phase and a subsequent 6-month environmental restoration period.
The Thuong Lac sand mine is also situated on the Tien River. Specifically located in Long Khanh A Commune, Thuong Lac Commune, Hong Ngu District, and An Lac Ward, Hong Ngu City, this sand mine covers an area of 11.59 hectares. With a total approved sand reserve of 757,574 cubic meters, the permitted extraction amount for this site is 533,150 cubic meters. The project timeline spans 16 months, including a 10-month extraction period and a subsequent 6-month phase dedicated to environmental restoration.
